A Slippery Rock woman was taken to a local hospital following a police involved shooting early Sunday morning in northern Butler County.
According to the Butler State Police, troopers were requested to perform a welfare check around 4am Sunday for a 36-year-old woman at Stone Bridge Apartments on New Castle Road in Worth Township.
Upon arrival, two troopers encountered the woman, who was holding a long gun inside her home. Authorities say that the woman then pointed her firearm at the troopers, and one trooper fired their pistol, striking the woman in the hip. The troopers then administered first aid and the woman was transported to the hospital.
No additional injuries were reported, and the woman’s status is currently unknown. The State Police Major Case Team and the Butler County District Attorney’s office are investigating.
