A Slippery Rock woman was shot by State Police after they say she pointed a gun at them.
The incident happened just before 4 a.m. Sunday at the Stoneworth Apartments in Worth Township on New Castle Road when police were called to check on the condition of 36-year-old Brittany Kitner of Slippery Rock.
When police arrived, Kitner was holding a loaded shotgun. After she refused to drop the gun, an officer shot Kitner in the hip. The troopers then administered first aid and Kitner was taken to the hospital.
No additional injuries were reported, and Kitner’s condition is currently unknown. The State Police Major Case Team and the Butler County District Attorney’s office are investigating.
