A Butler woman has been placed in prison after it’s alleged she assaulted an officer after a traffic violation.
On Friday, police pulled over 22-year-old Cierra Hefferan after she allegedly failed to stop at a red light on North Main and Brady Streets in downtown Butler. After being pulled over Hefferan and three people got out of the vehicle. Police ordered them all to return to the vehicle but Hefferan then yelled a racial slur at the officer.
Police say Hefferan showed signs of impairment, but they put her in hand cuffs, she allegedly kicked an officer and threatened to kill them after being released.
She’s also accused of scratching and spitting on the officer.
She was charged aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, and terroristic threats and placed in the Butler County Prison on $35,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 7.
