Multiple fire departments responded to the scene of a barn fire in Winfield Township Wednesday afternoon.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 2 p.m. for heavy smoke and fire at a barn in the 300 block of Riemer Road.
Crews from Saxonburg, Buffalo Township, Herman, Sarver, East Butler, Penn Township, and Middlesex were among those arriving on the scene to battle a fully-involved blaze about 50 feet from a house. The fire was contained after about 20 minutes.
A portion of Riemer Road needed to be closed for a time. It is not known what the barn contained or how the fire started.
