A Butler County-based nuclear energy company is finding itself in the middle of a hacking allegation surrounding Russian intelligence officers.
The Associated Press is reporting the U.S. Justice Department has charged seven Russian officers with hacking anti-doping agencies and other organizations, including Westinghouse.
In the indictment, prosecutors said the Russians targeted Westinghouse and another international organization that were investigating chemical weapons in Syria and the poisoning of a former Moscow military spy.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, one of the defendants did work on Westinghouse’s networks beginning in 2014.
In a statement, Westinghouse said they have found no evidence that any phishing campaigns were successful in breaching their systems.
