A local water project is among the fortieth in 20 states across the country to receive federal funding assistance.
The West Sunbury Borough Municipal Authority will receive grants totaling nearly $370,000- as well as loans of over $250,000- to install equipment and filters to upgrade the sewage treatment plant.
The improvements to meet state requirements will benefit 130 customers in the borough of West Sunbury, as well as portions of Clay Township and the Dassa McKinney Elementary School in Concord Township.
This funding is made possible through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program, which gives rural communities the ability to address water, drainage, and waste disposal concerns.
