With temperatures and humidity expected to climb across our area over the next several days, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission is asking residents to try to find ways to conserve energy.
A “Hot Weather Alert” is in effect through Saturday for the entire Mid-Atlantic region meaning conditions could stress the power grid.
Energy conservation and cooling ideas from the PUC include turning off non-essential appliances and as many lights as possible; postponing using appliances that produce heat until after 7 p.m.; and spending as much time as possible in rooms that do not receive direct sunlight.
Other suggestions- and the PUC’s Summer Heat Wave Fact Sheet- can be found on the PUC’s website here.
