Help is available for famers, rural small businesses, and agricultural producers through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The USDA’s Rural Energy for America program, or REAP, provides loan guarantees to assist with the lowering of energy costs.
Funding can be used for renewable energy systems such as geothermal, hydropower, wind, and solar. It can also be used to make energy efficiency improvements to heating, ventilation, and cooling systems as well as insulation, lighting, and refrigeration.
Applications for this program are accepted year-round. Those interested in learning more should contact the state USDA Rural Development office.
