Tougher DUI laws are now in effect in Pennsylvania.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, repeat offenders will now face stronger penalties for violations.
Act 59 of 2022, also known as Deana’s Law, amends the PA vehicle code by increasing the grading for certain DUI offenses, requiring consecutive sentencing for certain repeat DUI offenders, and imposing an 18-month suspension for a second degree felony DUI conviction.
This law also provides a sentencing enhancement for cases involving an individual with four or more prior DUI offenses.
