High School Sports Scores from Wednesday:
–The North Catholic baseball team defeated Indiana 7-5 to claim the Class 4A WPIAL title.
The Seneca Valley-Norwin Class 6A WPIAL softball championship game was postponed until Friday because of weather. They will now play at 1pm at PennWest California University.
North Allegheny won the Class 6A WPIAL baseball title with a 1-0 victory over Mt. Lebanon. Tigers pitcher David Posey threw a no-hitter in the championship win. The two teams had played for last year’s title, with Mt. Lebanon won that game with a no-hitter.
In a District 9 Class 2A Softball Consolation game – Karns City held off Moniteau 10-8 to remain in the hunt for a spot in next week’s PIAA tournament. The Gremlins had built a 9-2 lead through three innings, before the Warriors made the game close.
The 2A title game between Cranberry and Curwensville was postponed following the Karns City-Moniteau game and will be played today at 2pm. IF Curwensville defeats top-seeded Cranberry, the Gremlins would face Curwensville for a spot in the PIAA tournament.
