Thousands of runners participated in the 2018 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon on Sunday.
It was the 10th anniversary of the event.
Fikadu Girma Teferi, 24, of Ethiopia was the first full marathon runner to cross the finish line with a time of two hours and 13 minutes. Sydney Devore of Florida took gold in the women’s division, running 26.2 miles in two hours and 32 minutes. It’s was her first time running a marathon.
More than 100 runners were treated during the race, and almost two dozen ended up going to the hospital. The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety says none of the patients had serious ailments.
