Despite clinching a spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship with a week remaining in the regular season, the Slippery Rock University football team still remains outside of the national top 25 and outside of a possible NCAA playoff spot. The latest Division II coaches poll kept The Rock in the 26th position this week. Slippery Rock moved up one spot to eighth in the Regional Rankings. The top seven teams in the region qualify for the post-season tournament. The Rock will host Gannon this Saturday for their final regular-season game, then will host West Chester for the PSAC championship the following week.
Two-loss IUP remains ranked 22nd in the coaches poll this week. West Chester moved up to #11 after defeating Kutztown last Saturday. Kutztown fell from #15 to #23 this week.
Slippery Rock University’s Eric Glover-Williams was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in The Rock’s 44-21 victory over California Saturday. Glover-Williams had an interception return for a touchdown along with two pass break-ups and a sack in the game. He is the 10th Rock player to receive a state honor this season.
