The Congressional Task Force investigating the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler is releasing its first report.
The bipartisan interim report found that there was inadequate planning and coordination by the Secret Service with local and state police.
Other issues the report cited was the lack of a unified command post, no proper coverage of the AGR building, and local sniper teams had limited vision of AGR from where they were posted.
They also confirmed the shooter Thomas Crooks did not use a ladder to climb onto the building, instead going up on the air conditioning unit.
Other Key Findings in the Report:
- The Secret Service did not place the AGR complex that the shooter fired from, and the surrounding area, inside of the secure perimeter.
- Critical pieces of information about Crooks and the escalating threat situation at the AGR complex moved slowly due to fragmented lines of communication and unclear chains of command on July 13.
- Testimony from local law enforcement indicates that they fired a shot at Crooks prior to the USSS sniper firing the kill shot.
- The autopsy report indicates a single bullet killed Crooks.
