The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Patric Hornqvist scored twice for the Pens. Hornqvist and Phil Kessel both scored on the power play in the first period to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead in. But, the Pens went on to take seven penalties in the game. Tampa Bay scored all four of their goals on power plays. Goaltender Matt Murray stopped 22 of 26 shots.
The loss drops the Pens to .500 overall this season. They visit Ottawa Saturday for a 7pm face-off. Hear the game on WISR at 6:30pm.
The Penguins played without captain Sidney Crosby after he suffered an injury during the game against New Jersey Tuesday. Crosby is expected to miss a week.
Former Penguins defenseman Paul Martin retired Wednesday after 14 NHL seasons.
