The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the San Francisco Giants 4-3 Sunday afternoon at PNC Park. The Bucs were led by outfielder Jack Suwinski, who hit three home runs in the game. He became the first major league rookie to hit three home runs in a game that included a walk-off home run.
Suwinski also became the first Pirate player to hit multiple walk-off home runs since Wally Westlake in 1947.
The Pirates open a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs tonight at 7:05pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:40pm.
The Pirates have called up shortstop O’Neil Cruz, their top overall prospect. Cruz made his big league debut last fall.
