Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. won the Daytona 500 Sunday. The race was the longest in the event’s 65-year history due to late-race cautions. A total of 212 laps and over 530 miles were run after going to double overtime. It was the first win in five years for Stenhouse, and third of his career. His team, JTG Daugherty Racing, is the first single-car team to win the Daytona 500 since Trevor Bayne took the Wood Brothers team to victory lane in 2011. Reigning Cup Series champion Joey Logano was the runner-up.
Former Slippery Rock University wide receiver Andrew Bridgeforth, a 2017 graduate, began his first season as a pit crew member for the #48-car of Alex Bowman Sunday. Bowman was the pole sitter for the race.
