The New York Jets defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-20 Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. Steelers quarterbacks threw four interceptions in the game, as the offense turned from starter Mitch Trubisky to rookie Kenny Pickett in the second half. Pickett threw three of the interceptions, with one coming on the game’s final “hail mary” pass.
The Steelers defense allowed New York 14 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning touchdown with :16 seconds remaining.
Pickett was 10-of-13 for 120 yards and two rushing touchdowns in his NFL debut. His three interceptions were also the most for a Steelers quarterback making his professional debut. Mitch Trubisky was 7-of-13 for 84 yards and did not have a touchdown. Rookie George Pickens had his best NFL game, with six passes for 102 yards.
The Steelers fell to 1-3 overall, and are now winless in their two home games this season. They travel to Buffalo to face the Bills this Sunday.
The Bills edged the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 yesterday. The Cleveland Browns also lost 23-20 to Atlanta. The Ravens, Browns and Bengals are all tied at 2-2 in the AFC North. Baltimore will host Cincinnati in the Sunday Night Game this weekend. The Browns host the Los Angeles Chargers.
