The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Baltimore Ravens 23-16 Sunday in Baltimore. It was the Steelers fourth win in a row. The Steelers defense limited the Ravens to 268 total yards, including just 61 yards rushing. The Steelers offense held the ball for more than 36 minutes of the game.
Running back James Conner rushed for 107 yards and Ben Roethlisberger threw for 270 yards. Conner added seven receptions for 56 yards. (He now has 1,085 total yards and 10 touchdowns this season.)
Ben was knocked out of the game briefly, and back-up Josh Dobbs came in for one play and completed a pass for 22 yards and a key first down.
The Steelers are now 5-2-1 overall and host Carolina Thursday at 8:20pm.
Baltimore fell to 4-5. Cincinnati had a “bye” week and are 5-3. Cleveland lost to Kansas City 37-21 and fell to 2-6-1. The Chiefs have the best record in the AFC at 8-1.
Sunday Night Football: New England improved to 7-2 with a 31-17 victory over Green Bay.
Monday Night Football: Dallas will host Tennessee at 8:15pm.
The Slippery Rock University football team defeated Gannon 48-7 Saturday to complete a season sweep of their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division opponents. Wes Hills rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the first Rock running back to rush for more than 200 yards in three consecutive games. The Rock defense held Marcus Jones to a season-low 16 yards on 15 carries. Jones entered the game the fourth leading rusher in Division II.
The Rock improved to 9-1 overall and went 7-0 in the PSAC-West. It was the first time since 1999 they went undefeated in their division. Slippery Rock will host West Chester in the PSAC championship game Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kick-off is 1pm. Hear the game on The Rock Station 97.7fm beginning at 12:30pm.
#5-ranked Michigan pounded Penn State 42-7. The Wolverines have moved up to #4 in the latest rankings. Penn State fell to #20.
Friday – Pitt took over first place in the ACC Coastal Division with a 23-13 win over #23-ranked Virginia. They face Virginia Tech Saturday.
West Virginia has moved back into the Associated Press top-10 to number seven after their 42-41 victory over Texas Saturday.
Alabama remains #1 after shutting out LSU, followed by Clemson. LSU fell from #4 to #10.
