The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 28-21 Sunday. Ben Roethlisberger hit Antonio Brown for a touchdown with 10 seconds remaining to win the game. The Steelers put up 481 yards of total offense, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throwing for 369 yards. Running back James Conner had 19 carries fo 111 yards and two touchdowns.
The win moved the Steelers to within a half-game of first place in the AFC North heading into their “bye” week. They are now 3-2-1.
Baltimore defeated Tennessee 21-0 to move into a first-place tie with Cincinnati in the AFC North at 4-2. The Cleveland Browns lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 38-14. The Browns fell to 2-3-1.
Last night in Sunday Night Football: New England edged Kansas City 43-40.
Tonight in Monday Night Football: Green Bay will host San Francisco at 8:15pm.
The Slippery Rock University football team defeated Edinboro 59-28 Saturday. The Rock scored 45 points in the opening half of their Homecoming game to improve to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the PSAC-West. The Rock now have sole possession of first place after defeating IUP a week ago, and California losing to Gannon Saturday. The Rock will visit Clarion this Saturday for a noon kick-off, then visit Cal the following week.
A number of college football upsets over the weekend has shuffled the national rankings.
–Penn State fell to Michigan State 21-17 Saturday. The loss has dropped the Nittany Lions out of the nation’s top 10 down to number 18.
–Pitt lost to Notre Dame 19-14. The Fighting Irish are now ranked fourth.
–West Virginia lost to Iowa State 30-14. The Mountaineers have fallen to #13.
–Georgia lost to LSU 36-16 and fell from #2 to #8. LSU moves up to fifth. Ohio State is the new number two, followed by Clemson. Michigan has jumped into the top ten, up to sixth.
