Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner was named the AFC offensive player of the week following his 146-yard rushing effort Sunday against Cleveland. Conner also caught five passes for 66 yards and had two touchdowns. Conner leads the AFC in rushing and is third in the NFL.
Offensive lineman Marcus Gilbert returned to practice with the Steelers Wednesday. Gilbert missed the Cleveland game with a knee injury.
Thursday Night Football: The 1-7 San Francisco 49ers will host the 1-6 Oakland Raiders at 8:20pm.
Former Pitt quarterback Nate Peterman could return as the starter for the Buffalo Bills this weekend. Rookie Josh Allen remains out with a sprained elbow, and backup Derek Anderson is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Anderson was injured late in the Bills 25-6 loss to New England Monday.
