The Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Oakland Raiders Sunday. Kick-off is 4:25pm. Pre-game begins on WISR 680am at 2:25pm.
The Steelers saw several players return to practice this week from the injury list including safety Morgan Burnett and receiver/returner Ryan Switzer who was in concussion protocol this week. Long-snapper Kameron Canady was also a full participant after leaving Sunday’s loss to Los Angeles with a knee injury.
Thursday Night Football: Tennessee defeated Jacksonville 30-9. Titans running back Derrick Henry rushed 17 times for 238 yards and four touchdowns. He busted off a 99-yard run which tied Tony Dorsett for the longest run in NFL history.
Numerous college football awards were announced last night.
Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray was named the Associated Press college football Player of the Year Thursday. He is the second Sooners quarterback in a row to win the award. Baker Mayfield won last year. Murray topped Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, Jr. for the award. All three are up for the Heisman Award Saturday. Murray also won the Davy O’Brien award as the nation’s top quarterback.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award was given to Alabama’s Tagovailoa. The last five winners of the Camp award have gone on to win the Heisman.
Two other Alabama players won national awards last night. Reciever Jerry Jeudy won the Biletnikoff Award and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams won the Outland Trophy. Brian Kelly of Notre Dame won the coach of the year.
