Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Tyler Matakevich said he got first-team reps in the base defense in place of Vince Williams (hamstring injury) during Wednesday’s practice but L.J. Fort came in for some (passing-oriented) packages and rookie Matthew Thomas subbed each at times.
Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell left practice early Wednesday when he injured his left (plant) foot. Punter Jordan Berry said Boswell was “scraped” by a cleat. Because Boswell didn’t miss any kicking drills, he was listed as a full participant on the practice report.
Slot cornerback Mike Hilton wore a brace on his injured elbow during practice Wednesday, and he will wear it in the game Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
After missing each of the past two games because of a lingering groin injury, safety Morgan Burnett was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
