With Pennsylvania’s primary election now in the rear-view mirror, state officials are giving an update regarding new voting systems.
Nine counties used new systems with voter-verifiable paper trails in last Tuesday’s primary.
Acting Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar expects more counties to put new systems in place over the summer, leading up to the November general election.
Earlier this month, the Butler County Election Board approved the purchase of a new voting system that is paper-based. Elections Director Shari Brewer expects the system to be up and running by November.
Last year, the state mandated that all counties switch to a voting system with a verifiable paper record that could be referenced should there be a discrepancy.
