Pennsylvania education leaders are warning of an impending shortage of teachers in the state.
At a hearing with state lawmakers, education officials said that staffing shortages a turning into a “crisis” situation in Pennsylvania.
They cited a new study that shows the state has experienced a 66 percent decline in the number of teaching certificates issued to in-state graduates.
In addition to fewer teachers entering the system, there’s also a growing number of teachers who are leaving the profession citing burnout and the pandemic.
