A new proposal by state legislators could change what we call “vocational-technical” schools in the future.
It’s a part of a bill in front of the state senate that would change the name of vo-tech schools to “career and technical schools,” according to a press release.
Sen. Vincent Hughes (D-Philadelphia/Montgomery) said he believes there’s a stigma around the term “vocational-technical schools” and that bringing updating the terminology could help get more students involved in those programs.
There are currently 84 vo-tech schools in the state, including one on the campus of the Butler Senior High School.
