The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is teaming up with the state Game Commission to warn anglers and hunters about online scams involving the purchasing of licenses.
Several customers have reported recently paying for hunting or fishing licenses through a third-party website not affiliated with either agency and then not receiving a license.
The only reputable methods for purchasing a valid license or permit is through the Fish and Boat Commission’s online portal called The Outdoor Shop or in-person from a retail license issuing agent. The Outdoor Hop offers a printable electronic version of fishing licenses immediately upon payment and an official email confirmation from the Game Commission for hunting licenses.
Anyone who encounters a different website that claims to offer PA hunting or fishing licenses is asked to contact the Fish and Boat Commission or the Game Commission. Victims of fishing or hunting license scams should contact the state Attorney General.
