The state capitol building in Harrisburg is celebrating an anniversary today.
The building was dedicated on October 4th, 1906 at a ceremony attended by then President Theodore Roosevelt. The design was done by architect Joseph Miller Houston, which was partially based on St. Peter’s Basillica in Rome.
Houston though would later be convicted for price gouging the state, after the cost for the building ended up being three time the initial estimate.
