A new partnership between Slippery Rock University and a local non-profit group will allow students to get hands-on experience in the field of disaster response.
SRU’s Department of Homeland and Corporate Security Studies is teaming up with the Pennsylvania Volunteers organization to provide active volunteer training for juniors in the Bachelor of Science Homeland Security and Corporate Security Program
Students will be able to take part in interagency exercises, multijurisdictional training sessions, and have the opportunity to network with representatives from a wide variety of emergency management agencies.
PA Volunteers will provide training to students in the areas of shelter management, community emergency response team certification, medical points of dispensing, and other aspects of community preparedness.
