One of the Pittsburgh police officers who was wounded during Saturday’s shooting has local connections- he’s a Slippery Rock University graduate. He’s also been released from the hospital.
The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department said Officer Anthony Burke suffered a gunshot wound to the hand. He was treated and released from the hospital, and was invited by the Pittsburgh Penguins to take part in the ceremonial puck drop before last night’s game. He then watched the game from Sidney Crosby’s Charity Suite.
Burke is a member of the SRU class of 2013 and SRU President William Behre asked for thoughts for Burke earlier this week.
In total, six officers were hurt. Four of them were shot. At least one remains in the hospital.
