The Slippery Rock University football team will enter the 2023 season ranked 15th in the NCAA Division II national rankings according to the American Football Coaches Association preseason poll that was announced Monday. This marks the ninth straight year that Slippery Rock has been included in the preseason national poll. The Rock were one of just 12 teams in Division II to be ranked in every poll during the 2022 season and finished the year at No. 16 in the final rankings. SRU climbed as high as No. 8 last fall to mark the seventh time in the last eight seasons that The Rock have been ranked inside the top 10. Two-time defending national champion Ferris State is ranked first. Defending PSAC champion IUP is ranked 16th. Defending PSAC-East champion Shepherd is ranked 13th.
