The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 Sunday afternoon PNC Park.
Rich Hill, who allowed three runs on three hits and two walks to the Brewers, won the final two games of the three-game series to remain tied with the Cincinnati Reds for first place in the NL Central, while the Pirates (39-44) are tied with the Chicago Cubs for third place, 4 ½ games back.
The Pittsburgh Pirates also reinstated BryanReynolds on Sunday and placed Ji Hwan Bae on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain, an injury sustained in Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Reynolds has been out since June 20 with low back inflammation
Mitch Keller was the only Pirates player chosen for the All Star game Midsummer Classic, which will be played July 11 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed forward Radim Zohorna, bringing him back on a one-year contract worth $775,000. It is believed to be a two-way deal.
Late in the 2022 training camp, Zohorna was waived in hopes of assigning him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but he was claimed by the Calgary Flames on Oct. 3.
The Pittsburgh Penguins also signed former Boston Bruins forward Joona Koppanen to a two-year, two-way contract that carries a salary cap hit of $775,000.
The Pittsburgh Penguins signed former Colorado Avalanche forward Lars Eller to a two-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $2.45 million.
The Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday signed former New Jersey Devils defenseman Ryan Graves to a six-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $4.5 million.
The Penguins also made sure Tristan Jarry will remain their goaltender for the foreseeable future. On Saturday, the team re-signed its starting goaltender to a considerable five-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $5.375 million.
Defenseman Brian Dumoulin, a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins for over a decade, has joined the the Seattle Kraken, signing a two-year contract with a salary cap hit of $3.15 million.
The Pittsburgh Maulers lost at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio 28-12-to The Birmingham Stallions. The Stallions repeated as league champions in the second year of the USFL’s rebirth. The Maulers, who played their home games in Canton this year, had a three-game winning streak stopped and finished 5-7 overall.
