During the governor’s budget address earlier this week, he spoke about available financial support farmers impacted by avian-flu thanks to his previous budget.
There have been confirmed cases of the highly pathogenic avian flu in Dauphin County and others in the state. Shapiro says this funding is a commitment to protecting Pennsylvania Farmers.
“For those who are impacted, I want you to know that we are here for you,” Shapiro said. “Thanks to our proactive planning, we have the only Hi-Path recovery fund in the nation with more than $60 million set aside to support poultry farmers whose flocks have been impacted.”
“We are ready to deploy those existing resources as quickly as possible to assist farmers in need,” Shapiro added.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has still yet to release testing results from a case in Slippery Rock.
