Local Senior Community Centers will receive grant funding from the state.
The Pennsylvania Department of Aging recently designated a total of $2 million to the 52 Area Agencies on Aging across the state.
This money will then be distributed in the amount of nearly $5,000 to each eligible Senior Community Center. Normally this is a competitive grant process but the decision was made by the state legislature to allocate the Lottery money equally due to the impact of COVID-19.
Each Senior Community Center will be able to spend the money on a variety of projects to meet the needs of their participants such as pandemic mitigation, capital improvements, technology, or utilities. This money must be spent by June of 2022.
