Construction is expected to begin on the new senior center in Butler later this year.
County commissioners officially approved the contract for the center, which will be located at the former Butler Health and Fitness on North Duffy Road.
The over $5.5 million project will revamp the property and not only include the senior center location, but also the Butler County Area Agency on Aging offices and Veteran Services.
The building will house activities for the senior center, which includes an indoor pickleball court, that will double as a multi-purpose room.
Officials hope to break ground in the next several months and hope to have it ready to open by sometime next year.
