Seneca Valley and its teachers association have reached a new five-year agreement.
District officials say the two sides reached a deal following six months of negotiations.
Under the agreement, teachers will receive a wage increase that averages around 4.2 percent annually. It also sees two more workdays added onto the schedule and modified healthcare.
Both district officials and Seneca Valley teachers say they are happy with the deal and excited for the upcoming school year.
“We are pleased that such an agreement will allow us to focus on the vitally important work of providing remarkable educational opportunities for all of our students,” she said. “Our staff of dedicated educators is ready and eager to begin a productive 2021-22 school year.” Dr. Tracy Vitale, Seneca Valley superintendent said in written statement.
“This is an excellent contract, and one that we will proudly defend on behalf of our dedicated educators who have always showed unparalleled dedication to the students of this District and went above and beyond over the last 17 months during these incredibly difficult times,” Sharon Bonavoglia, who acted as the chief negotiator for SVEA also said in a written statement.
The contract begins retroactively to this past June and runs through June 2026.
