Beginning this week, Pennsylvania is returning a large amount of money and unclaimed property to the rightful owners.
According to State Treasurer Stacy Garrity, checks totaling more than $1.7 million have been mailed to around 7,000 residents across the state.
This is part of a new system called Money Match to automatically return property up to $500 in value which was unanimously approved by the state legislature and signed into law by the governor earlier this year.
Local State Senator Scott Hutchinson is among those working to get the word out about this program, saying “This innovative program has revolutionized how we handle unclaimed property in Pennsylvania”.
