The Slippery Rock Borough Police Department is warning the public of a recent phone scam.
Officials say the department has recently received several complaints from residents who say they received phone calls from an unknown person claiming to be a Slippery Rock police officer.
The unknown caller demands that the resident sends them money in order to avoid a potential arrest. Authorities also say the calls appear to come from a local Slippery Rock number.
The Slippery Rock Borough Police Department assures residents they would never call and demand money in such a way.
Anyone who receives one of these scam calls is encouraged to hang up and call the Slippery Rock Borough Police Department at 724-794-6388.
