The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Miami Marlins last night 5-3. Jordan Lupow’s bat was the deciding factor in the bottom of the 7th inning when he drove in the game’s winning run on a two run home run off of Marlins relief pitcher Tayron Guerrero. Richard Rodriguez pitched up the win for the Pirates and Felipe Vasquez pitched up his 31st save of the season. The Pirates are now 70-71 with only 21 games remaining on this season. Pirates and Marlins play today, first-pitch set for 1:05 P.M. Today’s starting pitchers are Wei-Yin Chin (6-9, 4.64 ERA) for the Marlins and Ivan Nova (7-9, 4.35 ERA) for the Pirates. Altoona Curve defeated the Akron RubberDucks, at home 8-5 yesterday evening in game 3 of the Eastern League Baseball Playoffs. Akron now leads the best of five series 2 games to 1. Game 4 is today at 4 P.M. in Altoona.
