Motorists are being advised to avoid a busy southern Butler County road later this week as rock blasting is scheduled to occur.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will briefly stop traffic on Route 228 in Middlesex Township on Tuesday between 1 and 1:30 p.m. as part of the Balls Bend Improvement Project.
Crews from Independent Excavating will blast sirens three times three minutes before the blasting and stop all traffic in the area. Following the blast, the roadway will be cleared of any debris in a closure that is expected to last about 15 minutes.
Flaggers will be stationed on all the roadways around the blast site; in the case of inclement weather, this blasting will take place Wednesday afternoon at the same time.
