Alexander Rossi won the IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway Sunday. The race, heard on WBUT, was delayed nearly two hours because of a red flag following an accident that sent driver Robert Wickens to an Allentown hospital.
Billy Torrence raced to his first career Top Fuel Victory Sunday at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Minnesota. The 60-year old Torrence defeated Antron Brown in the final for his first victory in 27 starts. He is the fahter of current Top Fule points leader Steve Torrence. Jack Beckman won the Funny Car division and Deric Kramer won the Pro Stock.
Kurt Busch won the Nascar Monster Energy Cup Series race at Bristol Saturday night. It was his first victory of the season, and the win clinched a post-season berth for Busch. Kyle Busch was involved in three different mishaps on the track and finished 20th. Reigning champion Martin Truex, Jr. was a victim of one of the brushes with Busch and finished 30th. Pole sitter Kyle Larson was the runner-up.
Larson won the X-finity Series race Friday.
Saturday night’s race marked the first time since this year’s season-opening DAYTONA 500 on February 18th that the top five in the final running order failed to include at least one member of NASCAR’s “Big Three.” Kevin Harvick had the best of it at Bristol with a tenth-place finish. Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Junior were twentieth and thirtieth, respectively … With Kurt Busch’s victory, there are nine Cup Series race winners who have secured post-season berths. In addition, three more drivers have clinched based on the point standings: Ryan Blaney, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Larson. Just two races remain in the regular season, at Darlington Raceway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
