A road rage incident from last year has prompted the introduction of legislation regarding firearms in vehicles.
A bill prohibiting the carrying of loaded firearms in vehicles is in response to the June 2017 shooting death of 18-year-old Bianca Roberson along a highway in Chester County.
The sponsor of the House bill is Representative Carolyn Comitta. The shooting occurred in Comitta’s district.
A similar version of the bill was introduced in the Senate. It would make a carrying a loaded weapon in a car a third degree misdemeanor, with multiple offenses resulting in fines and prison time.
Police said Roberson was shot by another driver as the two tried to merge into a single lane.
