A local lawmaker has introduced legislation that he says would ease regulatory conditions in order to lower energy costs.
U.S. Representative Mike Kelly, of Butler, recently introduced the Pipeline Permitting for Energy Security Act.
This bill would create regulatory certainty for natural gas pipeline construction and approve the completion of the Mountain Valley pipeline in order to allow transport of gas from Pennsylvania to destinations around the region.
U.S. Senator Pat Toomey introduced the Senate companion to this bill.
