The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 last night at PNC Park. Pirates starting pitcher Bailey Falter allowed a two-run home run in the fifth inning. The Pirates lone run came on a Ke’Bryan Hayes home run in the seventh.
The Reds also robbed the Bucs with a home-run stealing catch. Cincinnati left-fielder Spencer Steer reached above the wall to catch a Michael A. Taylor fly ball that would have been a round-tripper. Falter allowed just the two runs over his seven innings, but took the loss.
The Bucs managed just four hits in the game, including two by Bryan Reynolds, who has a 16-game hitting streak.
The Bucs and Reds complete their three-game series this afternoon at 12:35pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 12:10pm. Mitch Keller will start for the Pirates.
