The Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 Sunday night to their fourth World Series title in the past 15 seasons. The Red Sox won the best-of-seven series 4-1. Former Pirate Steve Pearce was named the series MVP. Pearce hit two home runs and drove in three in the game, and had three home runs and seven RBI’s in the final two games of the series. David Price was the winning pitcher. He allowed one run on three hits for his third post-season victory in a row.
(The 35-year old Pearce was the Pirates eighth round pick in the 2005 amateur draft. He made his Pirates major league debut in 2007 and left as a free agent in 2011. He was acquired from Toronto by the Red Sox in June.)
