A new report from the American Lung Association shows that many homes in Pennsylvania have higher than normal radon levels.
According to the report, nearly 40 percent of homes in the state are either equal to or above the proper levels.
The information comes as January also marks National Radon Action Month. Radon is a colorless and odorless gas that is emitted through the ground. It enters the home through cracks in the floor, walls, and other openings.
Radon is responsible for an estimated 21,000 lung cancer deaths each year.
Do-it-yourself test kits are available for purchase.
