Butler City Police will take part in this weekend’s “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.”
Community members are encouraged to bring any excess prescription medication to the city police station on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Officers will take the meds and then dispose of them properly with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Agency. Officers say they do not want residents to bring any exposed needles or syringes.
Several other communities in the county- and across the country- are also participating in drug take-back day.
Cranberry Township and their police department will hold a drive-thru collection where drivers can simply pull their car up to the rear parking lot of the Cranberry Township Municipal Center and drop off their used prescription drugs for free, no questions asked.
Other collections will be held at the Unionville Fire Hall in Center Township and Sam’s Club in Butler Township.
