Plans to tear down and rebuild a Sheetz gas station and convenience store in Butler Township are moving forward.
Attorney Ryan Wotus spoke to members of the Butler Township Planning Commission on Tuesday night about plans for the Sheetz at the corner of Route 68 and Meridian Road.
“The overall plan is to demolish the existing store and the building that used to house a bank, and redevelop the site itself as a new gasoline service station,” Wotus said.
The Sheetz that would then be built would be a new prototype store, which would be bigger than the existing store and include a drive-thru, similar to the Sheetz on Center Avenue.
The plans will now go in front of the Butler Township Commissioners for final approval. If all goes as planned, demolition of the old store would begin in the spring. The new store would then be open next fall.
