The second special election held in Butler County on Tuesday was the race for who will be the next state senator in the 41st District.
Republican Joe Pittman is the projected winner over Democrat Susan Boser, according to unofficial election results.
The 41st District includes parts of Butler and Westmoreland counties, and all of Armstrong and Indiana counties. In Butler County, Pittman received about 1,000 votes more than Boser.
The seat opened after former Sen. Don White retired earlier this year. Pittman had been working at Sen. White’s chief of staff since White took office in 2001.
