The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded for Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer in exchange for outfielder Austin Meadows, pitcher Tyler Glasnow and a player to be named.
Archer is 3-5 this season in 17 starts for the Rays, with a 4.31 ERA, and had a brief stint on the disabled list. He is a two-time American League All-Star.
The 29-year old Archer is under contract for the next two years, with club options through 2021. He will be due $7.5 million next season.
