The Pittsburgh Pirates won their second game in a row when they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 8-4 last night at PNC Park. Starting pitcher Carmen Mlodzinski and rookie Thomas Harrington pitched the entire game. Mlodzinski allowed one run on five hits over his five innings. He walked two and struck out six. Harrington earned his first major league save by finishing the final four innings. He allowed two home runs, but struck out five in his second big-league outing.
The eight runs the Pirates scored was a season-high. Catcher Joey Bart had two hits, including a home run. The Bucs had 10 hits and went 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
The Bucs and Cards play again tonight at 6:40pm. WISR pre-game begins at 6:15. Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates.
Pirates utilityman Jared Triolo was placed on the 10-day Injured List with a back issue. Triolo had one hit in his first 17 at-bats.
